David Ward has been a member of the Manchester Branch since 1980 shortly after the branch was formed. David has attended more
branch meetings than anyone else only missing 7 branch meetings in 37 years. After 3 years on the committee he became Chairman in 1986 .
David continued to serve the branch for 30 years as Chairman. This makes him the longest serving Branch Chairman, a feat unlikely to be
beaten. David has 7 Morris minors and has attended every MMOC national rally since 1981. David has rallied his 2 door Minor in
several UK and international events. Most notably the November Sun Run which he competes in every year.
A photo of him finishing an event in Germany is shown below.
David was one of the 41 minor drivers who took part in the 2002 Commonwealth Games closing Ceremony.
His long service was recognised by the branch and he was awarded Honorary Free lifetime membership in February 2017.
David was one of the first branch members to receive the 25 years continual membership award from the national club.
David has found many cars for branch members and also spare parts to help owners keep their running.
David continues to serve on the committee and assists with his encyclopaedic knowledge of branch history and technical matters.
