Many many years ago (28 years ago) one of my first cars was a Morris Traveller. I paid £120.00 for her. She was wonderful and we went everywhere together, Holidays to Anglesey, Rock concerts to see the Stones in Leeds everywhere, until one day we where hit by another car and she went to
scrap yard heaven. I always wanted another Morris but never thought id ever have or afford one again.
That was until early this year whilst on my travels at work. I went to see an old farmer type who had a rodent problem. On chatting he mentioned that he renovates old tractors and motorbikes for a hobby, so interested he took me in to one of his workshops to show me his work. They where beautiful.
Suitably impressed I said that if I ever won the lottery I’d love another Morris Minor. With that he said come with me and led me in to another one of his out buildings in the middle of the room there was another tractor but in the corner there was a car covered up. He drew back the covers to reveal a bright red 1966 Morris Minor. He said he bought it and fully restored it 3 years ago in 2007 and it has hardly been used since. He said you can buy it if you
want it. I nearly fell over. He told me how much he wanted for her and he said save up and when your ready let he know.
I saved, begged and borrowed over the last few months and on the 1st June 2010 I bought her. She passed a full MOT with no problems and
no advisory notes and I hope to be bringing her (or should I say Lois) to the next branch meeting. I Joined the branch recently and would like to thank
everyone for making me feel so welcome.
